One thing I like about living in the Elkhorn area is that there is always something fun and interesting to do. If you like antiques, collectibles, and stuff this is the place to be on May 19th when the first of this year’s four Elkhorn Antique Flea Markets is held from 7 am to 3 pm at the Walworth County Fairgrounds. May 24-26 from 9 am to 4 pm marks the weekend for the 27th annual East Troy Community-Wide Rummage Sale.

If food is your thing, we’ve got fresh and prepared items at local farmer’s markets, starting with the Lake Geneva Farmer’s Market, which opens each Thursday from 8am to 1 pm at Horticultural Hall starting on May 2nd.  If you like to combine your food with festivals, check out the Cinco De Mayo Festivals in Delavan and Lake Geneva on May 5.  But wait, there’s more food…There’s a Burger Throwdown in Lake Geneva on May 5th and a Burger Train at the East Troy Electric Railroad on May 18th. If you want brats and corn with your burgers, on May 24-27 you can go to the East Troy 43rd Annual Corn and Brat Roast. What goes with burgers and brats—chocolate and beer (hey chocolate goes with anything!).  That said, on May 24-27 the Burlington Chocolatefest has cooking demonstrations, games, rides and chocolate for days.  In the middle of all this you can stop by the East Troy Brew Fest on May 26 from 3-6 pm and sample from over 75 craft beers and micro brews.  And if you want to burn some calories before or after indulging, check out the Annual Elkhorn Chamber Golf Outing on May 15.

We also have theater events—Nana’s Naughty Knickers in Burlington May 2-5 and 9-12 and 45 Years and Still Kick’n at the Sprague Theater in Elkhorn May 10-2 and 17-19; the spring opening of the local outdoor history museum, Old World Wisconsin, May 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26; and a concert by the Lake Geneva Symphony on May 18.

And, for those who are animal lovers, on May 25 there is the Valley of the Kings Tour, a private sanctuary for lions, tiger, wolves and other animals.

Whew, and this is just a partial list and only for May.  Do we know how to have fun here or what?
